Wedding bells will be ringing soon for David Byrne. On Monday, the former Talking Heads frontman<\/a> revealed that he\u2019ll be tying the knot this week, just a few weeks after revealing that he is engaged to Mala Gaonkar, and also shared a playlist of instrumental songs that will play at his wedding dinner.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m getting married this week and made an almost entirely instrumental playlist while our guests eat an amazing and spicy dinner,\u201d Byrne wrote on Instagram, sharing a link to an Apple Music playlist<\/a>. \u201cMy sense is that words and lyrics can be distracting \u2013 the ear goes to them, especially if it\u2019s a song one knows.\u201d<\/p>\n More from Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/p>\n He added: \u201cSo, I opted for buoyant instrumentals that will create a hopeful and joyous atmosphere\u2026 and that folks can also ignore at the same time.\u201d<\/p>\n The playlist includes 42 songs, and a focus on Latin music, including songs such as \u201cPa Jap\u00f3n\u201d by El Alfa, \u201cPerfidia\u201d by Caf\u00e9 Tacvba, \u201cChimborazo\u201d and \u201cLuz de Luna\u201d by marimba-punk group Son Rompe Pera, \u201cCanales\u201d by Mexican Institute of Sound, and \u201cEn El Caribe Estoy Triste\u201d by Meridian Brothers.<\/p>\n The playlist also features songs by Herbie Hancock, an instrumental version of Post Malone\u2019s \u201cWow,\u201d and Brian Eno\u2019s \u201cAn Ending (Ascent).\u201d<\/p>\n Byrne revealed that he was engaged to Baonkar in an\u00a0interview with\u00a0The Times,\u00a0<\/em><\/a>while<\/span> discussing the song \u201cMoisturizing Things\u201d from his upcoming album. \u201cMy fianc\u00e9e will sometimes come at me with greasy hands, ready to smear my face. And at one point I thought, \u2018What if I wake up and really looked younger?\u2019\u201d the musician said in the interview. \u201cBut there\u2019s a message, too. The pair has also attended numerous events, including the 2023 Oscars and the premiere of Dune: Part Two<\/em><\/span>, together.<\/p>\n The new playlist and the wedding plan revelation come just a few days before he\u2019s set to release his album Who Is the Sky?<\/em> <\/a>alongside the Ghost Train Orchestra.<\/p>\n Byrne told Rolling Stone<\/em> <\/a>he called the album\u00a0Who Is The Sky?<\/em>\u00a0because of a voice-to-text message that meant to ask \u201cwho is this guy?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe algorithm got it a little bit wrong,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd what came up on my phone was \u2018Who is the sky?\u2019 And I thought, \u2018That\u2019s a beautiful phrase.\u2019 I know what they were really saying \u2014 it\u2019s pretty easy to tell, in English anyway.
