The child had questions about how Alisha Hawthorne and her wife had a baby.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cI didn\u2019t come for this shit,&#8221; Snoop said. &#8220;It threw me for a loop. I\u2019m like, \u2018What part of the movie was this?\u2019 These are kids. We have to show that at this age? They\u2019re going to ask questions. I don\u2019t have the answer.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">In defense of the scene, screenwriter Lauren Gunderson, who contributed to early drafts of the 2022 film, responded to Snoop\u2019s comments in an Instagram post, writing, \u201cI created the <em>LIGHTYEAR<\/em> lesbians.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">She continued, \u201cIn 2018, I was a writer at Pixar\u2014such a cool place, grateful to work there, learned a ton from kind and impressive creatives. As we wrote early versions of what became <em>LIGHTYEAR<\/em>, a key character needed a partner, and it was so natural to write \u2018she\u2019 instead of \u2018he.\u2019 As small as that detail is in the film, I knew the representational effect it could have. Small line, big deal. I was elated that they kept it. I&#8217;m proud of it. To infinity.
