With dukedoms, titles and inheritances all playing a factor, it can be hard to understand the naming conventions<\/a>. Allow Markle \u2014 whose marriage to Prince Harry<\/a> brought her into the fold \u2014 to explain.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen I got married I changed my name,\u201d she told Emily Chang during a recent sit down for Bloomberg shared August 26<\/a>. \u201cBut it’s a complicated one for people to understand because a last name is not typical in that construct.\u201d<\/p>\n In fact, when it comes to the moniker of \u201cSussex,\u201d while Markle conceded that the name can be used \u201cloosely\u201d when thinking of a last name, in reality, \u201cIt\u2019s a dukedom. That\u2019s the truth of it. As the 44-year-old admitted, \u201cI get it because I’m American. I went there and I started to understand, then you come back and as an American, you go, \u2018I’m so confused.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Markle also addressed the seeming obsession with her name and role since she married into the family.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat I learned about myself is no matter what my name is or what people call me, I’m still the same person,\u201d she said. \u201cThat didn’t change who I am. And maybe that’s probably the biggest distinguishing factor.\u201d<\/p>\n But an understanding of royal conventions isn\u2019t the only thing Markle picked up across the pond before she and Harry stepped down as senior royals and moved to California in 2020, she misses the radio<\/a>.<\/p>\n “Honestly,\u201d she admitted to season two “With Love, Meghan” guest Tan France, \u201cone of the things I miss the most about the U.K. is the radio station Magic.”<\/p>\n In response, the “Queer Eye” host teased, \u201cSorry to say this to you publicly, but that’s such a grandma station.”<\/p>\n A categorization Markle is happy to accept. “I’ll be that grandma,” she laughed. “My favorite station in my car is called ‘Mom Jeans.’\u201d<\/p>\n
