Graham Greene, the Oscar-nominated actor who co-starred alongside acting greats including Al Pacino, Kevin Costner and Mel Gibson, has died. He was 73. <\/p>\n
Greene died Monday, Sept. 1 in a Toronto hospital after a long illness, Deadline reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cHe was a great man of morals, ethics and character and will be eternally missed,\u201d Greene\u2019s agent Michael Greene (no relation) wrote in a statement to Deadline. <\/p>\n \u201cYou are finally free. Susan Smith is meeting you at the gates of heaven,\u201d he added, referencing the actor\u2019s longtime agent, who died in 2013.<\/p>\n Born in 1952 on a Canadian reserve, Greene began performing on stage in the 1970s and made various films in the 1980s, including \u201cRevolution.\u201d<\/p>\n He was nominated for best supporting actor for his role as Kicking Bird in \u201cDances With Wolves,\u201d the eventual best picture winner. He lost out on the Oscar to Joe Pesci for \u201cGoodfellas.\u201d<\/p>\n He went on to appear in other high-profile roles in \u201cMaverick,\u201d \u201cDie Hard With a Vengeance,\u201d \u201cThe Green Mile,\u201d and \u201cThe Twilight Saga: New Moon.\u201d In later years, he appeared in \u201cWind River,\u201d by Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan, and in his series \u201c1883\u2033 and \u201cTulsa King.\u201d<\/p>\n Greene was also a series regular \u201cWolf Lake,\u201d \u201cDefiance\u201d and Marvel\u2019s \u201cEcho\u201d in addition to recurring stints on \u201cNorthern Exposure,\u201d \u201cLonesome Dove: The Series,\u201d \u201cBeing Erica,\u201d \u201cLongmire,\u201d \u201cGoliath\u201d and \u201cAmerican Gods.\u201d<\/p>\n Greene also won a Grammy Award<\/a> for Best Spoken Word Album For Children in 2000. His other accolades include a Gemini Award, Canadian Screen Award, and a star on Canada\u2019s Walk of Fame.
