\n\tOriginal Harry Potter<\/a> helmer Chris Columbus<\/a> has since scrapped plans to adapt Broadway play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child since it\u2019s \u201cgotten so complicated\u201d to be attached to the Wizarding World without acknowledging or being implicated by J.K. Rowling<\/a>\u2018s transphobia.<\/p>\n \n\tIn a new interview with The Times U.K.<\/a>, the Academy Award-nominated filmmaker said such a reunion with the original cast would be \u201cimpossible\u201d and thus \u201cnever\u201d take place.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cIt\u2019s never going to happen,\u201d he told the outlet. \u201cIt\u2019s gotten so complicated\u00a0with all the political stuff. Everyone in the cast has their own opinion, which is different from her opinion, which makes it impossible.\u201d <\/p>\n \n\tHe added, \u201cI haven\u2019t spoken to Miss Rowling in a decade or so, so I have no idea what\u2019s going on with her, but I keep very close contact with Daniel Radcliffe and I just spoke to him a few days ago. I still have a great relationship with all the kids in the cast.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe Cursed Child, set nearly two decades after the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, follows the title character\u2019s second son as he navigates being sorted into the Slytherin House.<\/p>\n \n\tElsewhere in the interview, the filmmaker reiterated his previous sentiments that HBO and Warner Bros. Television\u2019s adaptation is \u201cmore of the same,\u201d<\/a> going further to add that it\u2019s \u201cdifficult imagining anyone else\u201d in the iconic roles originated by Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith and Robbie Coltrane.<\/p>\n
