Emily Blunt opened up about why The Devil Wears Prada<\/em> is “not just doing a movie” in a cover interview for PORTER<\/em> magazine<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n “It has deep emotional roots for a lot of us,\u201d added the actress, who met her now-brother-in-law Stanley Tucci on the set of the first film<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n Both Blunt and Tucci return for The Devil Wears Prada 2<\/em>, in theaters May 1, 2026<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n The Devil Wears Prada<\/a> <\/em>didn’t start as a family affair for Emily Blunt<\/a>, but nearly 20 years later, it has morphed into so much more than “just” a movie.<\/p>\n While in the midst of filming the long-awaited sequel to her hit 2006 comedy costarring Anne Hathaway<\/a> and Meryl Streep<\/a>, Blunt, 42, reflected on meeting her now-brother-in-law Stanley Tucci<\/a> in a new cover story for PORTER<\/em><\/a> magazine.<\/p>\n “It has deep emotional roots for a lot of us,\u201d said the Smashing Machine<\/a> <\/em>actress, who returns for the second Prada <\/em>film<\/a> alongside Tucci, 64, Hathaway 42, and Streep, 76. \u201cIt\u2019s not just doing a movie.\u201d<\/p>\n Tucci would go on to marry<\/a> the actress’s older sister Felicity Blunt<\/a> in 2012, and the couple later welcomed two children together: son Matteo<\/a>, 10, and daughter Emilia<\/a>, 7.<\/p>\n Never miss a story \u2014 sign up for\u00a0PEOPLE’s free daily newsletter<\/a>\u00a0to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer\u200b\u200b, from celebrity news to compelling human-interest stories.<\/strong><\/p>\n And while the family gets along swimmingly, “He\u2019s not good for your\u00a0Devil Wears Prada<\/em>\u00a0diet though, because he\u2019s cooking pasta<\/a> and making me drink martinis with him every night,” Blunt told PORTER<\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cHe was like, \u2018Em, do you want some pomodoro pasta?\u2019 I\u2019m like, \u2018I do, but I have to be in Dior couture today, so we\u2019ll see,’ ” she joked of her foodie brother-in-law.<\/p>\n Blunt has not been shy about her love for Tucci over the years, telling PEOPLE in March 2022 that he is “always looking immaculate head to toe.”<\/p>\n Additionally, “He’s an all-around renaissance man who knows the way to everyone’s hearts. They\u2019ve watched this with their families 50, 60 times; they\u2019ve watched it when their parents are sick; they\u2019ve watched it when they\u2019re sad, when they\u2019ve gone through a breakup.”<\/p>\n “Of course, I meet people who will quote the movie to me, but I\u2019m not sure I\u2019ve ever been hit with a bombardment of the realization of what the movie is to people coming back to the film set<\/a>,” Blunt added. “And that\u2019s what we all feel, holy cow. That\u2019s what everyone says, every day: holy s—.\u201d<\/p>\n
