I tore my ACL and my meniscus, and I had to have surgery. [My husband at the time]\u00a0Kody [Brown]\u00a0brought me home from the hospital and then prepared to leave,\u201d the author penned, per <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/sister-wives-christine-brown-reveals-oxycodone-addiction-exclusive-11800930\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">People<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Brown asked her then-husband, 56, what to do but he was also stumped.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_6-0\">\u201c\u2018What do I need to do?\u2019 I asked, wondering about meds and aftercare. \u2018I don\u2019t know,\u2019 he said. \u2018They didn\u2019t give you any instructions?\u2019 \u2018No,\u2019 he said. But he had gotten my prescription for pain pills filled, and he handed me the bag.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Christine Brown promotes her book on Instagram. <span class=\"credit\">Christine Brown\/Instagram<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Instead, Brown relied on her mom and daughters to stick around to help.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had never taken oxycodone before \u2014 if something hurt, I took ibuprofen or aspirin,\u201d Brown wrote. \u201cReal pain indicates that something\u2019s wrong, and if I take something that masks the problem, I\u2019m not going to fix the problem, so I generally avoid it. I was on top of the world, and I could accomplish everything!\u201d she explained. \u201cI just dealt with it privately because at the time, it was absolutely devastating.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_20-0\">\u201cIt was very difficult, and even though I was on it for a month, the effects of it lasted at least six. I didn\u2019t feel normal,\u201d continued the TLC star. \u201cI didn\u2019t feel okay for so long. So, once I was done and I felt better, I just felt good to feel better. And I\u00a0realized that with writing the book, that\u2019s something I didn\u2019t go back and revisit was the addiction to\u00a0oxycodone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_22-0\">Brown added, \u201cOxy is a terrible, addictive thing if you don\u2019t need it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_24-0\">\u201cIf you need it and you\u2019re in a lot of pain, there\u2019s\u00a0nothing better than that, but since I can get addicted to things easily, it seems it\u2019s just best to stay away from that kind of thing,\u201d she elaborated. \u201cBut I just wasn\u2019t in a place where I could talk about it on the show. I just really\u00a0couldn\u2019t. The exes split in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>A year later, Brown opened up about what <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2021\/11\/02\/sister-wives-stars-kody-brown-and-christine-brown-break-up\/\">led to their divorce<\/a> after 25 years together. <\/p>\n<p>Kody said he was no longer attracted to Brown during an episode of their show.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was terrible to hear. And it\u2019s super embarrassing,\u201d Brown admitted during the \u201cSister Wives: One-on-One\u201d\u00a0episode at the time.<\/p>\n<p>His confession led her to know that their relationship was \u201cover.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was almost a relief,\u201d the former Brown family patriarch continued. \u201cI\u2019m not going to keep fighting for this, and I\u2019m not going to keep trying and I\u2019m not going to keep doing this if you\u2019re not attracted to me. I was trying to be stoic about it,\u201d he said. \u201c[Christine] is a game player. From the time we were married \u2014 manipulation, pouting, temper tantrums, just behavior things.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_1-0-31\">Kody also claimed that Brown \u201clost her s\u2013t\u201d after he wanted to reconcile with his first wife, Meri.<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_1-0-31\">\u201cMeri gave me this really cool birthday present and I\u2019m in this place expressing to Janelle, Christine and Robyn that\u00a0I might reconcile with Meri,\u201d he reminisced. \u201cAnd Christine lost her s\u2013t that day.
