India has long been a priority for Warner Music Group<\/a>, as evidenced by the number of M&A deals struck by the company in the market.<\/p>\n

WMG\u2019s moves in India include a\u00a0strategic investment<\/a>\u00a0in JetSynthesys\u2019\u00a0Global Music Junction <\/strong>in April 2024.<\/p>\n

It also\u00a0acquired<\/a>\u00a0India-based artist management and live events company\u00a0E<\/strong>\u2013Positive<\/strong>\u00a0in October 2023 and bought a majority stake in digital media and music company\u00a0Divo<\/strong> in February 2023.<\/p>\n

Now Divo Music, which has over 4.2 million YouTube subscribers<\/a> and is claimed by Warner<\/strong> to be \u201cone of India\u2019s leading music and content enterprises\u201d, has launched a new label dedicated to independent music in the market.<\/p>\n

Via Loopd, with Warner Music Group\u2019s<\/strong> backing, Divo aims \u201cto discover, empower, and amplify fresh talent from across the country,\u201d serving as \u201ca launchpad for authentic voices and original sounds from India to the world\u201d.<\/p>\n

According to the companies, Loopd will be \u201cbacked by Warner Music Group\u2019s<\/strong> global expertise, distribution network, and market reach\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cLoopd will allow its artists to access international audiences while remaining rooted in their independent spirit,\u201d the companies added in a statement.<\/p>\n

Warner and Divo<\/strong> noted that the launch comes at \u201ca pivotal time when non-film and independent music<\/strong> is experiencing rapid growth in India, fuelled by streaming platforms and evolving audience preferences\u201d.<\/p>\n

They added that Loopd is strategically positioned to tap into this shift by \u201cshowcasing diverse new voices and catering to listeners seeking music that goes beyond traditional film-driven content.\u201d<\/p>\n

The statement added: \u201cLoopd is built on the principles of originality, quality, and creativity. By collaborating closely with independent musicians, the label will offer artists the resources and visibility needed to thrive while enabling their unique stories and sounds to reach audiences across India and beyond. With Loopd, the future of India\u2019s indie music movement has found a new home.\u201d<\/p>\n

The label\u2019s debut release is Nizhal<\/em> by Adhithya RK, unveiled by Malayalam superstar Mohanlal.<\/p>\n\n
