Briarcliff Entertainment has nabbed the new movie from Gore Verbinski.<\/p>\n

The company acquired U.S. distribution rights to Verbinski\u2019s \u201cGood Luck, Have Fun, Don\u2019t Die\u201d from Constantin Film LA and will release the movie theatrically on Jan. 30, 2026, TheWrap learned Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Verbinski\u2019s first film since 2017\u2019s \u201cA Cure for Wellness\u201d stars Sam Rockwell, Haley Lu Richardson, Michael Pe\u00f1a, Zazie Beetz and Juno Temple. The official logline states that the movie \u201cfollows a man claiming to be from the future who takes the patrons of an iconic Los Angeles diner hostage in search of unlikely recruits in a quest to save the world.\u201d While the original announcement stated that the movie was animated, an individual with knowledge of the project said it\u2019s not live-action or<\/em> animated. Make of that what you will.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis film is wildly original, endlessly entertaining and unlike anything audiences have seen before,\u201d said Briarcliff Entertainment CEO Tom Ortenberg in an official statement. \u201cAfter seeing it, we immediately knew Briarcliff was the perfect partner to distribute Gore Verbinski\u2019s first independent, bonkers movie. We couldn\u2019t be more excited to share his vision with audiences across the country.\u201d<\/p>\n

Constantin Film LA\u2019s Robert Kulzer added in an official statement: \u201cWe were immediately excited and impressed by Tom and his team\u2019s passion for our movie and his commitment to the theatrical experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

Verbinski had previously spent years developing a new animated project called \u201cCattywampus\u201d with Netflix and featuring animation from Industrial Light & Magic, who worked on Verbinski\u2019s Oscar-winning animated film \u201cRango.\u201d When the movie was proving too expensive and complex, they canceled the project and allowed Verbinski to shop \u201cCattywampus\u201d around. Verbinski was also hard at work on an adaptation of the George R.R. Martin story \u201cSandkings\u201d with \u201cUtopia\u201d creator Dennis Kelly, also for Netflix. (It had previously been adapted as an episode of the 1990\u2019s version of \u201cThe Outer Limits.\u201d) But after the streaming giant killed \u201cCattywampus,\u201d it\u2019s unlikely his other film would have continued.<\/p>\n
