Erin Bates<\/strong><\/a> and Chad Paine<\/strong> have been going strong since 2011.<\/p>\n

Erin, who is one of Bringing Up Bates\u2019<\/em> Gil Bates<\/strong> and Kelly Jo Bates\u2019<\/strong> 19 kids, and Paine met at an Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP) Valentine\u2019s Day banquet in February 2011.<\/p>\n

The pair ended up crossing paths again in April 2011 at a conference and started pursuing a relationship. Erin and Chad got engaged in August 2013 and tied the knot that November.<\/p>\n

After experiencing a miscarriage in 2014, Erin and Chad welcomed son Carson in 2015, followed by Brooklyn, Everly, Holland, Finley, William and Henry in 2016, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2025, respectively.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMessages of support are pouring in for Bringing Up Bates star Erin Bates as she recovers from septic shock days after the birth of her and Chad Paine\u2018s seventh baby. Paine announced the birth via Instagram on August 27, 2025, revealing that Bates had experienced \u201ccomplications.\u201d \u201cAfter a long and emotional labor, our miracle arrived. [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Following the birth of their seventh child, Henry, in August 2025, Chad revealed that Erin faced serious health \u201ccomplications\u201d<\/a> after welcoming their son.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe wanted to thank each and every one of you for all the prayers and support you have given on our behalf,\u201d Chad wrote via Instagram<\/a> in September 2025. \u201cIt\u2019s been a week since our miracle, Henry came into the world. He is doing well in the NICU and is our bundle of happiness. We had asked for prayer for recovery for Erin due to complications. Her labor was longer and more intense than previous births. She has been fighting through it and has been such a light and sweet testimony of grace to nurses, staff and doctors alike. We are all moved by her kindness and gratefulness in the midst of pain.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chad went on to say that Erin \u201cdeveloped a severe UTI and kidney infection\u201d leading her into \u201cseptic shock.\u201d<\/p>\n

2011<\/h2>\n

Chad and Erin met at an IBLP Valentine\u2019s Day banquet that February, but didn\u2019t officially start dating until they reconnected at a conference a few months later.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe met at a Valentine\u2019s banquet, which is kind of special because I think we were meant to be,\u201d Erin recalled during an episode of Bringing Up Bates<\/em><\/a> in December 2014. \u201cI vaguely remember seeing him there because my family was singing and I was doing some of the music and he was taking pictures. The next night is when we officially met because his family invited our family over for dinner. As soon as I walked in the door, it was love at first sight.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tGil Bates and Kelly Jo Bates have 19 children, and for 10 seasons, their lives were documented on Bringing Up Bates. The couple tied the knot in December 1987 and welcomed their first child the following year. By 2012, Kelly had given birth to nine boys and 10 girls, without any multiples in the mix. The twosome became good friends before starting a romance following a conference in Texas.<\/p>\n

\u201cLater on that year, I think we met at a conference down in Texas, she was playing for the event,\u201d Chad added. \u201cThrough that week long event down in Texas, I got to know her a little bit better, her family a little bit better and from then on we kind of pursued a relationship.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the Bates family\u2019s blog<\/a>, the family announced that Chad had officially asked Erin to court a.k.a. the \u201cpre-engagement stage of their relationship.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe couldn\u2019t be more excited to watch God work in their relationship and we are so happy they have chosen to share their special moments with family and friends,\u201d they wrote in January 2013.<\/p>\n
