Demi Moore<\/strong><\/a> opened up about how tough it\u2019s been to witness ex-husband Bruce Willis<\/strong><\/a>\u2019 dementia diagnosis progress.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s difficult,\u201d the actress, 62, recalled on a recent podcast appearance<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s hard to see somebody who was so vibrant and strong and so directed sift into these other parts of themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n

Moore was previously married to Willis, now 70, from 1987 to 2000. The exes share three daughters: Rumer, 37, Scout, 34, and Tallulah, 31. While Willis moved on with wife Emma Heming Willis<\/strong> in 2009, Moore and the now-retired action star have remained amicable. (Willis also shares daughters Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 11, with Heming Willis, 47.)<\/p>\n

In 2022, Willis was diagnosed with aphasia, a rare type of dementia, and retired from acting. Willis\u2019 family has been by his side as he battles the condition.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tDemi Moore is keeping things in perspective amid her ex-husband Bruce Willis\u2018 ongoing dementia battle. \u201cGiven the givens, he\u2019s in a very stable place at the moment,\u201d Moore, 62, shared in a Friday, December 6, interview with celebrity.land. \u201cAnd I\u2019ve shared this before, but I really mean this so sincerely. It\u2019s so important for anybody [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s so important just to meet them where they\u2019re at. Don\u2019t have a particular expectation of them needing to be who they were or who you want them to be,\u201d Moore recalled of being by Willis\u2019 side during the podcast. \u201cWhen you do that, I find that there is an incredible sweetness and something that\u2019s soft and tender and loving. Perhaps it is more playful and child-like in a certain sense because of how much more caretaking they need.\u201d<\/p>\n

Moore added that for her, \u201cshowing up and being present\u201d for Willis and their daughters is her top priority.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you project where it\u2019s going, it only creates anxiety. If you replay where it was and what you\u2019ve lost, it only creates anxiety and grief,\u201d she continued. \u201cThere\u2019s still so much of him there, it may not always be verbal, but it is beautiful given the givens.\u201d<\/p>\n

Heming Willis also appeared on the same podcast episode and agreed with Moore\u2019s sentiments.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s right. It\u2019s about seeing beauty there,\u201d she said. \u201cAs hard as it is to lose someone that we love, we are able to tap into what it is.\u201d<\/p>\n

Moore gave credit to Heming Willis for taking on the caretaker role for her husband.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no road map for how to deal with this \u2026 obviously, being the ex-wife, even though our family is very connected, is an interesting position,\u201d she explained. \u201cSo much fell on Emma to really figure this whole thing out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Moore added that she also has \u201cso much compassion\u201d for Heming Willis.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no way that anybody could have anticipated where this was going to go. I really think she\u2019s done a masterful job,\u201d she gushed. \u201cShe has been so dedicated to forging the right path. She\u2019s had equal amounts of fear and strength and courage in navigating this.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last month, Heming Willis sat down with Diane Sawyer<\/strong> to give an update<\/a> on the Die Hard<\/em> star and his condition. She revealed that Willis now lives in a separate nearby residence<\/a> with full-time care.<\/p>\n
