Jordan Peele\u2019s fourth film as a director appears to be taking longer than expected.<\/p>\n
Universal Pictures has unset the Oscar winner\u2019s next project from its release calendar, which was last dated for October 2026. Peele is currently at work on the film, which has yet to roll cameras, an individual familiar with the project told Variety.<\/p>\n
More from Variety<\/strong><\/p>\n Originally, the follow-up to his 2022 hit movie \u201cNope\u201d was scheduled to open<\/a> over Christmas 2024; following the guild strikes, the film was then pushed<\/a> to next Halloween. Universal had no comment. Reps for Peele did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n As per usual with Peele\u2019s directorial efforts, nothing is known about the movie\u2019s plot, though its been categorized as a horror thriller. But speaking on<\/a> the \u201cConan O\u2019Brien Needs a Friend\u201d podcast in Jan. 2024, Peele said, \u201cI do feel like my next project is clear to me, and I\u2019m psyched that I have another film that, you know, could be my favorite movie if I make it right.\u201d<\/p>\n Peele hasn\u2019t been resting on his laurels. Universal will imminently release the Peele-produced sports horror film \u201cHim.\u201d That project stars heatseeker Tyriq Withers (\u201cI Know What You Did Last Summer,\u201d \u201cAtlanta\u201d) as a rookie football player with big ambitions. Marlon Wayans stars as a legendary quarterback who takes Withers under his wing, showing his protege that greatness comes at a dark (and gruesomely supernatural) price.<\/p>\n Early buzz is praising Wayans for an unexpected dramatic turn.
