Fox News anchor John Roberts<\/strong> is on the mend after contracting malaria.<\/p>\n

Roberts, 70, shared a health update via X<\/a> on Saturday, August 30, that revealed he was planning to leave Virginia\u2019s Inova Fairfax hospital \u201cafter five days and six nights.\u201d<\/p>\n

The TV star wrote, \u201cI hope to be heading back home to my family today,\u201d before reflecting on the illness itself, which is described by Mayo Clinic<\/a> as a parasite \u201cspread to humans through the bites of infected mosquitoes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Roberts wrote, \u201cMalaria is an awful disease that needs to be attacked full-force when a diagnosis is made. In my time here, I\u2019ve gone from being so sick that any dog would take pity on me to being ready to fire up the grill on Labor Day (well, maybe ready to watch the grill being fired up).\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFox News anchor John Roberts is on the road to recovery after being diagnosed with malaria. \u201cI had been hurting from the top of my head to the tip of my toes. Literally everywhere,\u201d Roberts, 68, recalled to People in an interview published Thursday, August 28. \u201cI was also beset with uncontrolled shivering all during [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He concluded, \u201cI look forward to getting back in the saddle. Just stay away from these little effers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Roberts was hospitalized<\/a> prior to being diagnosed with the illness after experiencing \u201cuncontrolled shivering\u201d while presenting on TV, per an interview he conducted with People<\/em><\/a> that was published on Thursday, August 28. A personal health advisor then urged Roberts to \u201cgo to the ER.\u201d<\/p>\n

Subsequent blood work showed that Roberts\u2019 platelets and white blood cell levels were both low before a diagnosis was presented.<\/p>\n

He told the outlet, \u201cI thought, \u2018Of course you have malaria. \u2026 You never do anything in small measures.\u2019 But I was a little scared. Malaria can be deadly if left unchecked. I don\u2019t know exactly how \u2018severe\u2019 it was from a medical classification, but it sure felt severe. I have never felt that sick in my life.\u201d<\/p>\n
