KANSAS CITY, Mo.\u00a0\u2014\u00a0<\/span>Mitch Farris pitched five effective innings<\/a> to win his major league debut and Jo Adell hit a two-run homer that helped the Angels<\/a> defeat the Kansas City Royals 5-1 on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n Adell finished with three hits and Oswald Peraza had an RBI double for the Angels, who scratched star slugger Mike Trout less than an hour before the game because of a skin infection.<\/p>\n Trout is considered day-to-day.<\/p>\n Kansas City remained 2 1\/2 games behind Seattle for the last American League wild card.<\/p>\n Farris (1-0) walked his first batter but soon settled in.
