Drake<\/a> doesn\u2019t like being referred to as a culture vulture.<\/p>\n The Toronto rapper sat down with media personality Bobbi Althoff for her new podcast Not This Again<\/em> where he addressed things<\/a> like their falling out after their much-publicized first interview<\/a>, the fake abs allegations, his beef<\/a> with Rick Ross<\/a>, and being called a \u201cculture vulture.\u201d<\/p>\n More from Billboard<\/strong><\/p>\n When the subject of their falling out came up, Drake tried to explain why he decided to cut all ties with Althoff, saying that she made him feel like his interview was the source of all the problems in her life at the time. \u201cWhat I\u2019m really trying to say is I feel like I\u2019m not necessarily a part of the problem,\u201d Drake told Bobbi as he attempted to articulate why he blocked her on everything and asked for the original video to be taken down. \u201cAnd I experience a lot of guilt-tripping in my life where people are like, \u2018No, this is your fault,\u2019 essentially and my intentions are pure.\u201d<\/p>\n Adding, \u201cIt\u2019s the same way even in music,\u201d people will be like, \u2018Oh, you\u2019re a culture vulture,\u2019 or people will describe the collaborative efforts that I\u2019ve put forth and the artists that I\u2019ve picked up and lifted up or shined a light on as me taking, you know? They\u2019ll put a negative spin on it and try and tell me that it\u2019s a self-serving thing or whatever, and I think I get really sensitive about that.\u201d<\/p>\n Drake\u2019s collabs with up-and-coming artists have been the subject of much debate in rap social media circles for years and the issue was addressed by Kendrick Lamar<\/a> multiple times during their back-and-forth<\/a> last summer on \u201ceuphoria\u201d and \u201cNot Like Us.\u201d And the Compton rapper hasn\u2019t been the only one to be critical of his collabs. Back in 2019, Drake addressed<\/a> Grime rapper Wiley<\/a>\u2018s criticism while co-hosting the 1Xtra Rap Show with Tiffany Calver.<\/p>\n \u201cI hate that people think that me being into music from these kids that are trying to make it and trying to build a name for themselves is like, \u2018Oh, that\u2019s some culture vulture,\u201d he told Calver. \u201cWhat does that even mean? I don\u2019t understand what that means. Would you rather me not acknowledge anything or support? That\u2019s some real confused hater s\u2014t. But it is what it is. I see it a lot. I\u2019ll never understand how supporting somebody\u2019s song or even going a step further, giving somebody a song or linking up, I\u2019ll never understand how that is not viewed as something admirable.
