Cincinnati has a longstanding history with cinematography. Over the past 40 years, the city has been used as a backdrop for more than 50 films<\/a>. It was also among the three final cities in contention to host the Sundance Film Festival<\/a> (sadly to no avail).<\/p>\n

This year, the Queen City appeared in James Gunn’s “Superman” as the Cincinnati Museum Center transformed into the Hall of Justice. “The Mastermind<\/a>,” a star-studded crime drama filmed entirely in Cincinnati<\/a> in 2024, was also among the 22 feature films competing<\/a> for the Cannes Film Festival’s highest honor: the Palme d’Or. (That film officially releases in October.)<\/p>\n

Other movies filmed here include the 1988 film “Rain Man,” which won Best Picture at the Oscars. A few other movies have also been nominated for the Academy Awards, such as 2015’s “Carol” and 2011’s “Ides of March.”<\/p>\n
