Humans may be the true threat in the first trailer for 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple<\/a><\/em>, the fourth installment in the\u00a028 Years<\/em>\u00a0series and a follow-up to\u00a0Danny Boyle\u2019s recent\u00a028 Years Later<\/em>.<\/p>\n In the clip, young Spike (Alfie Williams) has been enlisted into the dangerous crew of Sir Jimmy Crystal (Jack O\u2019Connell) and his gang of blond-haired, velour-suited Jimmies.\u00a0Meanwhile, Dr. Kelson (Ralph Fiennes) is pushing the boundaries of his relationship with his Alpha virus-carrier Samson (Chi Lewis-Parry). Clarke predicting the future in an old episode of BBC series Horizon<\/em>.<\/p>\n 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple<\/em> was written by Alex Garland, who also wrote 28 Years Later<\/em>, and produced by Boyle, Garland, Andrew Macdonald, Peter Rice, and Bernard Bellew, and executive produced by Cillian Murphy. It also stars Erin Kellyman and Emma Laird. The film arrives in theaters Jan. 16.<\/p>\n Earlier this week O\u2019Connell told Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a>, \u201cThis film is the weird, deranged cousin to\u00a028 Years Later<\/em>, who you might be a bit ashamed of because they have weird, questionable interests. We see how much nature is the unstoppable force at the end of the day. Nature prevails. The world will take its natural course with or without humans. But I don\u2019t think the infected are purely antagonists in our film. It definitely will make you consider that.\u201d<\/p>\n DaCosta, who took the reins from Boyle only three weeks after his film wrapped last year, added, \u201cThe thing that connects the two is that they\u2019re both bonkers, idiosyncratic, and very artistically personal works. My big pitch when I was talking to the producers, including Danny and Alex, before I came on was, \u2018I\u2019m going to make this my own. I\u2019m not going to try to make a Danny Boyle movie.\u2019 Because that\u2019s impossible to make. He\u2019s so special. And it didn\u2019t really interest me.\u201d DaCosta adds of her take, \u201cIt\u2019s so hard to describe the tone of the movie that I actually won\u2019t even attempt to. But it keeps the same unique, off-the-wall, surprising energy.\u201d<\/p>\n O\u2019Connell noted that the trailer \u201cdoes a really good job of putting across a feel and a mood without really alluding too heavily to the storyline.\u201d And rest assured, he said of the film, \u201cIt goes places, man.\u201d<\/p>\n The synopsis notes, \u201cExpanding upon the world created by Danny Boyle and Alex Garland in 28 Years Later<\/em> \u2014 but turning that world on its head \u2014 Nia DaCosta directs 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple<\/em>.
