Trump finally made a public appearance earlier this week during a press conference<\/a>, where he addressed the rumors.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cNo, that\u2019s probably AI.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s the kind of thing they do,\u201d he added. \u201cOne of the problems we have with AI, it\u2019s both good and bad, if something happens really bad, just blamed AI.\u201d<\/p>\n

After hearing the president\u2019s response, Colbert got closer to the camera to dramatically point out, \u201cYou just blamed AI!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou just blamed AI,\u201d he repeated, before questioning, \u201cWhich means something really bad happened?\u201d<\/p>\n

He went on to quip, \u201cAre you dead? Were you in those bags? Are you AI. Please tell me you\u2019re AI.\u201d<\/p>\n

Colbert\u2019s relationship with Trump has been causing a frenzy lately, especially since many speculate that the president had something to do with the host\u2019s show getting cancelled.<\/p>\n

Earlier this summer, Colbert criticized the president and Paramount for their $16 million settlement on a lawsuit the president filed over the way a 60 Minutes interview with Kamala Harris<\/a> was edited in the lead-up to the 2024 election.<\/p>\n

Commenting on the issue, Stephen said, \u201cI believe this kind of complicated financial settlement with a sitting government official has a technical name in legal circles: it\u2019s ‘big, fat bribe.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Just three days later, the network announced it would be canceling the beloved late-night talk show within a statement that read, “‘THE LATE SHOW with STEPHEN COLBERT’ will end its historic run in May 2026 at the end of the broadcast season. We consider Stephen Colbert irreplaceable and will retire the ‘THE LATE SHOW’ franchise at that time. We are proud that Stephen called CBS home. He and the broadcast will be remembered in the pantheon of greats that graced late-night television.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
