But behind the picturesque paradise lies a dark past. From natural disasters to an unexpected death, the 74-acre private island in the British Virgin Islands has a history of mayhem.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The most recent tragedy occurred in the early hours of Aug. 30.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;It is with deepest sadness that we can confirm that one of our Necker Island team members sadly passed away on Saturday 30 August 2025,&#8221; a representative for Virgin Limited Edition told Fox News Digital in a statement. &#8220;They were a hugely talented and exceptional member of the Necker Island family, and we are all devastated by this news. Our utmost priority is the wellbeing of their family and friends, and that of our team, and we are doing everything we can to support them all during this very difficult time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">According to the <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/rvipolice\/posts\/pfbid0CqaD5azBYxZKsfFWkpSrNLaptAK5zB2rbEViWfGwtDLXcjHr8NGZNKMaNdk694FRl\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Royal Virgin Islands Police Force;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Royal Virgin Islands Police Force<\/a> (RVIPF), emergency services were alerted to the fatal incident on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The man was found unconscious and had sustained a head injury at the scene of an accident in the late hours of Aug. 29. The Necker Island medic was immediately called to the scene, and medical care, including CPR, was provided.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The man was transported to the Dr. D. so when he learned an island was for sale in the British Virgin Islands, he contacted the realtor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;We were still in the early days of Virgin Records, and I by no means had the cash to buy an island,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;Luckily, the realtor didn\u2019t know this and offered me an all expenses paid trip to see the islands that weekend. I agreed to go on one condition \u2013 if I could bring a guest.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Branson was originally quoted $6 million but couldn\u2019t afford it at the time. He wrote that a year later nobody had made an offer, and with Virgin Records doing better, he bought the island for just $180,000. But anyway, she was great. She swept her up into her arms and got them out of the house as fast as possible,&#8221; Branson told The Telegraph at the time. &#8220;Talking to her, she said it&#8217;s like being in a film set where you&#8217;re waiting for the words &#8216;cut&#8217; but they just don&#8217;t come. But I was making my way out, and Kate and her two children were behind me. Then she just sort of picked me up and took me down four steps and that was it. Hurricane Irma and added that it was a &#8220;traumatic time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Branson explained that while the extent of the damage still needed to be assessed, &#8220;whole houses and trees have disappeared&#8221; and &#8220;bathroom and bedroom doors and windows have flown 40 feet away.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;Much of the buildings and vegetation on Necker has been destroyed or badly damaged,&#8221;
