Emma Heming Willis<\/strong><\/a> feels closer than ever to husband Bruce Willis<\/strong><\/a> as he battles frontotemporal dementia.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like our love story has only grown and developed more,\u201d she told People<\/em><\/a> in an interview published on Wednesday, September 3. \u201cThe way I feel for Bruce is \u2026 It\u2019s just on a more sort of cellular level.\u201d<\/p>\n

Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) can \u201cgradually rob people of basic abilities \u2014 thinking, talking, walking and socializing \u2014 that most of us take for granted,\u201d per the National Institute of Aging.<\/p>\n

But despite Willis\u2019 struggles with speech, Heming Willis, 49, said the pair communicate in other ways<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes love does not need words,\u201d she shared. \u201cI can just sit there with Bruce and look at him, and we look at each other, and we laugh and smile, and that to me is more than anything.\u201d<\/p>\n

Above all, Heming Willis recognizes how precious time is as she navigates her life as a caregiver and mother<\/a> of their two daughters: Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 11. They often visit Willis, 70, at the home he lives in<\/a> located near their primary residence.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love this time with him,\u201d she noted. \u201cTime is so fleeting, and I just love just being able to be present with him. Bruce is very present. I am so grateful that he is very much here, very much a part of our day to day. I think there has been so much beauty just to be able to meet him where he\u2019s at, to enjoy this time with him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Heming Willis revealed that Willis is \u201cstill very mobile\u201d and \u201cis in really great health overall,\u201d while speaking with Diane Sawyer<\/strong> on ABC last month.<\/p>\n
