It recognizes the moral authority we have over our work and provides an income stream for 2.4 million people across the four nations of the United Kingdom,\u201d the letter reads.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cThe fight to defend our creative industries has been joined by scores of UK businesses, including those who use and develop AI. We are not against progress or innovation. The creative industries have always been early adopters of technology. Indeed, many of the world\u2019s greatest inventions, from the lightbulb to AI itself, have been a result of UK creative minds grappling with technology.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe signees have thrown their support behind the \u00a0Data (Use and Access) Bill, which would require developers to be transparent with copyright owners about using their material to train AI models, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/c071elp1rv1o\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">the BBC reports<\/a>. You\u2019re supposed to protect us. That\u2019s your job,\u201d McCartney said to lawmakers in a BBC interview earlier this year. \u201cSo if you\u2019re putting through a bill, make sure you protect the creative thinkers, the creative artists, or you\u2019re not gonna have them. If there\u2019s such a thing as a government, it\u2019s their responsibility \u2014 I would think \u2014 to protect young people to try and enhance that whole thing so it works.
