Charlie Sheen<\/strong> is responding to a candid interview that Jon Cryer<\/strong> gives in a new documentary about his life.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sheen, who turned 60 on Wednesday, September 3, addresses his scandalous past in the doc aka Charlie Sheen<\/i><\/span><\/a>, which debuts September 10, the day after his memoir, The Book of Sheen<\/em>, hits bookshelves.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cryer, who starred alongside Sheen in the CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men<\/em>, participated in the film alongside the show\u2019s creator, Chuck Lorre<\/strong>, as well as Sheen\u2019s exes Brooke Mueller<\/strong> and Denise Richards<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt was really cool to hear from [Cryer\u2019s] perspective,\u201d Sheen said in an interview with People<\/i><\/span><\/a> published Wednesday. \u201cHe was in the line of fire with all that stupid s*** going on, and it was affecting him and his family and his career and all that. I can\u2019t debate anything that he said.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tJon Cryer and Charlie Sheen were costars on Two and a Half Men for eight seasons until Sheen was fired from the hit sitcom in 2011. \u201cIn the early years, the life with Charlie Sheen was great,\u201d Cryer told\u00a0Entertainment Tonight\u00a0in June 2022. Production for\u00a0Two and a Half Men was halted twice, first in 2010 and [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Sheen told the outlet that he was moved by Cryer\u2019s suggestion that imposter syndrome had fueled his substance abuse.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe nailed that, and I\u2019m so glad he opened that door, because it gave me a chance to really start thinking about that,\u201d Sheen said. \u201cHe said, \u2018He\u2019s a guy that doesn\u2019t believe he deserves the things he has, or that it was he earned,\u2019 and I was like, \u2018Whoa.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Sheen added, \u201cSuddenly, I felt like I was on a couch in Jon\u2019s therapy office, and he was dead on. That\u2019s something that I\u2019ve felt my whole life, because I had no formal training. I had no formal education, I didn\u2019t even finish high school. And suddenly I\u2019m working and traveling, I\u2019m a star and all this stuff. It just happened. There was no plan. And there was always the voice of doubt there, telling me it\u2019s only a matter of time before this all goes away, so to enjoy this as heartily as you can.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Sheen praised Cryer\u2019s \u201cinsightful\u201d and \u201ccompassionate\u201d observation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The actor appeared with Cryer, also 60, in the first eight seasons of Two and a Half Men<\/i>, before he left the show in 2011 amid a downward spiral of addiction and erratic behavior. His character was killed off, and CBS installed Ashton Kutcher<\/strong> to fill in opposite Cryer until the series ended in 2015. Sheen has reportedly been sober since 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI regret that specifically still,\u201d Sheen said of his Two and Half Men<\/i> departure. \u201cI think if I hadn\u2019t done what I had, I could be living a different life right now. All my problems wouldn\u2019t be what they are. But you just don\u2019t know that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Cryer admits in the doc that he was nervous to discuss Sheen openly and risk invoking his former costar\u2019s wrath.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
