Devon Walker has confirmed that his exit from\u00a0Saturday Night Live<\/em> was a mutual decision.<\/p>\n On Aug. 25, the comedian\u00a0announced his departure<\/a>\u00a0from NBC’s long-running late-night sketch series after three seasons. It was the first of a stream of exit announcements that rocked SNL<\/em> ahead of its 51st season.<\/p>\n Days later, Walker, 34, shared new details in an interview with Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a>, telling the outlet, \u201cWe decided together that it was time to go our separate ways.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI guess the best way I put it is like me and the show kind of looked at each other and we decided together that it was time to go our separate ways,\u201d he added. \u201cI think I felt ready to leave the show, and I think the show felt ready to leave me. I was just ready to do something else. We both felt like it was time.\u201d<\/p>\n Walker explained that the time commitment required for the show caused him to miss out on other things in his life. \u201cI felt ready to do a different version of my life,\u201d he said. \u201cI think that me and the show are both ready to turn the page.\u201d<\/p>\n During his three years on\u00a0SNL,<\/em>\u00a0Walker was known for his impersonations of New York mayor Eric Adams, ABC host Michael Strahan, and more. But he clarified to fans that he was ready for a new job. Following his exit announcement, he posted to\u00a0his Instagram stories<\/a>\u00a0to tell his followers, \u201cJust to be clear, this is good news!! It was just time for me to do something different. Please do not be hitting me with all the \u2018I\u2019m so sorry\u2019 we not on that AT ALL.\u201d<\/p>\n Walker also told Rolling Stone<\/em> that fans should not feel sorry for him, \u201cI think when somebody leaves SNL<\/em>, people\u2019s impulse is to be like, \u2018Oh, I\u2019m really sorry.\u2019 But to me, getting on SNL<\/em> was such a blessing.
