Artificial intelligence company Anthropic has raised another $13 billion in funding, valuing it at $183 billion, nearly tripling its valuation in March.<\/p>\n
The Series F round was led by San Francisco-headquartered investment management firm ICONIQ<\/b>, whose investment portfolio includes AI audio company ElevenLabs<\/b>, Tencent Music Entertainment<\/a><\/b>, Airbnb<\/b>, Alibaba<\/a><\/b>, Canva<\/b>, Uber<\/b> and Zoom<\/b>.<\/p>\n Fidelity Management & Research Company<\/b> and Lightspeed Venture Partners<\/b> served as co-leads, while other investors include affiliated funds of BlackRock, Blackstone, <\/b>Singaporean sovereign wealth fund GIC, Growth Equity at Goldman Sachs<\/a> Alternatives, TPG, T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc. <\/b>and T. Rowe Price Investment Management<\/b>, among others.<\/p>\n Anthropic\u2019s valuation has grown from $61.5 billion<\/b> following a $3.5 billion <\/b>funding round<\/a> in March.<\/p>\n The startup, which developed large language model Claude<\/b>, also counts Alphabet<\/b> and Amazon<\/a><\/b> among its biggest backers. By August 2025, its run-rate revenue hit over $5 billion<\/b>, the startup said.<\/p>\n Claude is Anthropic\u2019s flagship LLM that competes directly with OpenAI\u2019s<\/b> ChatGPT<\/b> and Alphabet\u2019s Gemini<\/b>. The company says it now serves over 300,000<\/b> business customers, with large accounts representing more than $100,000<\/b> in annual revenue growing nearly seven-fold over the past year.<\/p>\n In May 2025, the company launched Claude<\/b> Code<\/b>, a tool for developers. The company recently settled<\/a> a class-action lawsuit with authors who accused it of using copyrighted books without permission to train Claude.<\/p>\n During the authors\u2019 lawsuit, Judge William Alsup<\/b>\u00a0found that Anthropic torrented\u00a05 million<\/b>\u00a0files from the pirate online library\u00a0LibGen<\/b>,\u00a02 million<\/b>\u00a0files from\u00a0Pirate Library Mirror (PiLiMi)<\/b>, and nearly\u00a0200,000 records<\/b>\u00a0in the Books3 collection.<\/p>\n The resolution could influence ongoing litigation from Universal Music Group<\/a>, Concord<\/a>, <\/b>and ABKCO, <\/b>who are pursuing their own copyright case against Anthropic. The music publishers allege<\/a> that Claude reproduces copyrighted lyrics without authorization.<\/p>\n\n
