Zach Cregger<\/a><\/strong> has finally clarified his DC Universe<\/a> script with Batman<\/a> and Gotham City.<\/p>\n Last month, The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> ran a story about Cregger and his future projects, following his success with Weapons<\/a>. One of the projects mentioned was Henchmen, a DC Universe story about low-level henchmen in Gotham City who gain notoriety after killing Batman \u201cthrough a stroke of luck.\u201d Batman, Joker, and Harley Quinn could all appear in Henchmen.<\/p>\n Years ago, while promoting Barbarian, Cregger teased the DC project as something he would make at the drop of a hat.<\/p>\n \u201cIf I got the call, I would drop everything and go make that movie in a heartbeat,\u201d Cregger told Discussing Film<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s my favorite thing I\u2019ve ever written. I love it, and I\u2019m dying to make it.<\/p>\n With rumors swirling about the DC project, Cregger finally set the record straight about Henchmen on the Double Toasted podcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is funny. This has been blown out of proportion online. So, yeah, I wrote Henchmen, which is a story that takes place in the DC Universe, like years before I wrote Barbarian, and I really love it,\u201d Cregger said. \u201cBut it\u2019s not a Joker and Harley script. I\u2019ve seen that online. And, no, I haven\u2019t talked to James Gunn about it. I haven\u2019t really talked to anyone at [DC Studios] about it.\u201d<\/p>\n Cregger does not have the time to worry about Henchmen right now, as he\u2019s currently prepping a Resident Evil<\/a> movie. Sony won a hotly contested bidding war for Cregger\u2019s Resident Evil movie, which he will write and direct. Austin Abrams<\/a>, who appeared in Weapons, will star in Resident Evil.<\/p>\n Resident Evil will begin shooting this fall.
