John Candy: I Like Me<\/em>, directed by Colin Hanks, will be released on Prime Video Oct. 10<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\nJohn Candy<\/a> is getting the biographical documentary treatment he always deserved.<\/p>\nJohn Candy: I Like Me<\/em><\/a>, from producer Ryan Reynolds<\/a> and director Colin Hanks<\/a>, opens this year’s Toronto International Film Festival<\/a> on Sept. 4, ahead of a Prime Video release worldwide next month. As its new trailer shows, it\u2019s a heartwarming tribute to the Canadian star, who died in 1994 at age 43.<\/p>\nThe trailer opens with remarks from Candy’s Stripes<\/a> <\/em>(1981) costar Bill Murray<\/a>, who says, “I could tell you what was right about John Candy, or what was wrong. But he was my friend.”<\/p>\n“And … I don’t wanna cry, but when you see him, when you see his face….” he trails off, tearing up.<\/p>\n
Aside from Murray, other friends and costars who make an appearance in the emotional trailer include Steve Martin<\/a>, Catherine O’Hara<\/a>, Dan Aykroyd<\/a>, Tom Hanks<\/a>, Martin Short<\/a> and Mel Brooks<\/a>.
