Robert Irwin<\/b> is opening up about his sister Bindi Irwin<\/b>\u2018s health and her courageous \u2014 and painful \u2014\u00a0battle with endometriosis.<\/p>\n
In an interview with People<\/i> <\/a>published on September 3, the Dancing with the Stars<\/i> contestant, 21, revealed that Bindi\u2019s condition is \u201can ongoing battle.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cEndometriosis is one of these things where it\u2019s not a quick fix,\u201d he told the outlet.\u00a0 \u201cIt is something that I really think needs to be [at] the forefront of discussions,\u201d he added, calling out how \u201cwomen\u2019s health throughout history\u201d remains \u201cunder-discussed\u201d and \u201cunder-researched.\u201d<\/p>\n Endometriosis is a disease where tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus, causing excruciating pain, and prolonged periods according to endofound.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n In May, Bindi, 27, shocked fans when she shared via Instagram<\/a> that she\u2019d undergone another major surgery to treat the condition. Doctors removed a staggering 51 endometriosis lesions, plus a cyst and her appendix.<\/p>\n The wildlife conservationist first revealed her diagnosis<\/a> to the world in\u00a0 2023 and shared details on her endometriosis surgery to remove \u201c37 lesions, some very deep & difficult to remove, & a chocolate cyst.\u201d<\/p>\n However, Bindi recently celebrated a major milestone<\/a>. \u201c[I\u2019m] genuinely healing,\u201d she said via social media<\/a> on August 13. \u201cI can function in everyday life without wanting to throw up or pass out from the pain.\u201d<\/p>\n Now she\u2019s channeling that renewed energy into supporting Robert on season 34 of DWTS <\/i>\u2014 the same show she conquered in 2015.
