Jimmy Kimmel<\/a> sent his staff downtown to ask Los Angeles<\/a> business owners if they want to thank Donald Trump<\/a> for sending troops there back in June. The segment, which aired Wednesday, didn\u2019t go well for the president. (Watch the video below.)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The talk show host spotlighted Trump\u2019s claim that his friends are dining out again after he deployed the National Guard to Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Kimmel said the National Guard and Marine presence amid ICE raids in LA \u201ckilled the restaurants downtown.\u201d (Not to mention that it was declared illegal<\/a> by a federal judge this week.) He played a clip of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem saying, \u201cLA wouldn\u2019t be standing today if President Trump hadn\u2019t taken action.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cSmall-business owners are thankful,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

So Kimmel\u2019s crew asked proprietors if they were indeed thankful for Trump\u2019s takeover.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

If answers like \u201cabsolutely not\u201d and \u201c[Bleep] no\u201d are really just code for gratitude, then Noem is absolutely right. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Then again, Trump did receive one \u201cthank you\u201d in the segment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
