KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – For years, Carter Jensen attended games at Kauffman Stadium as a fan. Thursday night, he\u2019ll be there and in the Kansas City Royals starting lineup for the first time as a player.<\/p>\n
Jensen, a Kansas City, Missouri, native and Park Hill alum, is the Royals No. 2 overall prospect. He\u2019s in the starting lineup for the first time in his MLB career on Thursday night.<\/p>\n
The 22-year-old made his MLB debut Tuesday night, striking out in a five-pitch at-bat against Los Angeles Angels closer Kenley Jansen to end the game.<\/p>\n
In his first start, Jensen will be the designated hitter and bat eighth in the Royals lineup.<\/p>\n
The 2021 Royals third-round draft pick began the season in Double-A Northwest Arkansas but joined the Triple-A Omaha Storm Chasers late this June. There, he starred for the Storm Chasers, hitting .288 with 14 home runs in 43 games at the Triple-A level.<\/p>\n
Jensen will suit up Thursday night for a Royals team that is 2.5 games back of the Seattle Mariners for the final AL Wild Card spot.<\/p>\n
