Ronda Rousey had a solid run with the WWE after she left the UFC following a couple of brutal beatdowns, but she still seems to be struggling with the idea that professional wrestling is a business.<\/p>\n
And that is not going well for her on social media with even a pair of pro wrestling stars ripping her for her comments. <\/p>\n
So, what did Rousey say? <\/p>\n
Well, during an appearance on \u201cThe Lapsed Fan\u201d podcast she lamented the fact that the company had her get in the ring with another popular wrestler, Alex Bliss. Bliss is not as big as Rousey and she does not have the combat sports background. Rousey apparently took note of that and didn\u2019t appreciate it. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe fact that they had me fighting Alexa Bliss at all was (expletive) ridiculous, and you wanna know why they had me against Alexa Bliss?\u201d Rouse said. \u201cBecause she had the most merch sales at the time. Like, what the (expletive)? That\u2019s your decision-making process?\u201d<\/p>\n
Again, that is, in fact, typically a large part of the decision-making process for professional wrestling promoters and bookers.<\/p>\n
WWE star CM Punk, whose real name is Phil Brooks, took issue with Rousey\u2019s statements. Brooks fought in the UFC like Rousey, albeit he was not nearly as successful. But he\u2019s a big-time star in the world of professional wrestling. <\/p>\n
He reshared Rousey\u2019s quote on X and wrote,<\/b><\/a> <\/b>\u201cHiring Ronda Rousey was the worst decision ever done.\u201d<\/p>\n Another wrestling star, MJF, who is under contract with AEW, also could not help but call out Rousey. He reshared <\/b>her quote on X and wrote<\/b><\/a>,<\/b> \u201cIt\u2019s almost like pro wrestling much like any professional sport functions as a business.
