In the age of streaming, it\u2019s never been easier to listen to new music \u2014 but with over 60,000 new songs added to Spotify every day, it\u2019s also never been harder to know what to put on. This week we\u2019ve highlighted records from Shame<\/a>, Suede<\/a>, Big Thief<\/a>, David Byrne<\/a>, SG Lewis and Faithless.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s about the cowards, the cunts, the hypocrites,\u201d Shame singer Charlie Steen says of the band\u2019s fourth album, Cutthroat. On the new record, the south London band come out swinging with some of their most vicious and cutting music so far. On \u2018Cowards Around\u2019, they take cues from former tourmates and US post-punk legends Protomartyr on a swirl of snarling noise, while closing track \u2018Axis of Evil\u2019 has an 80s synth flair to it. And then we will go to a different colour!\u201d On Antidepressants, the band honour both the album and its colour scheme, making music steeped inspired by darkness and despair. The band\u2019s first album as a trio \u2013 following the departure of bassist Max Oleartchik \u2013 is delightfully warm and concise, with Adrianne Lenker\u2019s spellbinding storytelling front and centre as always. Why am I writing songs, or working this job, or whatever? Does any of it matter?\u201d One listen to Who Is the Sky? seems to suggest that his reason for being is an unquenchable fascination with the world and the people in it.
