Former Talking Heads frontman David Byrne is off the market. <\/p>\n
The 73-year-old announced on Instagram earlier this week that he is getting married \u2014 and he\u2019s doing it this week, too \u2014 to his fianc\u00e9e, Mala Gaonkar, 55. <\/p>\n
He announced just three weeks ago that the two were engaged. <\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m getting married this week and made an almost entirely instrumental playlist while our guests eat an amazing and spicy dinner,\u201d he wrote. <\/p>\n
\u201cMy sense is that words & lyrics can be distracting \u2014 the ear goes to them, especially if it\u2019s a song one knows,\u201d he added. \u201cSo, I opted for buoyant instrumentals that will create a hopeful and joyous atmosphere \u2026 and that folks can also ignore at the same time.\u201d<\/p>\n
People Magazine reported<\/b><\/a> that Byrne first referred to Gaonkar as his fianc\u00e9e last month. <\/p>\n \u201cMy fianc\u00e9e will sometimes come at me with greasy hands, ready to smear y face,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd at one point I thought, \u2018What if I wake up and really looked younger?\u2019 But there\u2019s a message, too. You learn a lesson you didn\u2019t expect at the start.\u201d<\/p>\n The two have a history, according to People, having co-written an immersive theater performance for the Stanford Arts Institute in 2016. <\/p>\n Byrne also had a new album \u2014 \u201cWho is the Sky?\u201d \u2014 set to drop this week. <\/p>\n \u201cThe reaction I\u2019ve gotten from people is they said, \u2018Oh, we need this right ow. This is what we need right now,\u2019 which I take it to mean that it\u2019s an album that\u2019s playful,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s a lot of joy and all that in the record. And I think people see that as a resistance or a pushback to what they see and what I see is happening in the world.
