Jason Aldean<\/a><\/strong> says he\u00a0hasn\u2019t\u00a0been able to smell well for at least a decade. The country music superstar, 48, recently appeared on\u00a0Armchair Expert With Dax Shepard, where he discussed various topics, including his reasons for putting off surgery to clear his nasal passages.<\/p>\n \u201cIt just\u00a0doesn\u2019t\u00a0sound like fun,\u201d\u00a0Aldean said of the medical procedure\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0looming over him.<\/p>\n When asked if there was an incident that caused him to have the reduced ability to smell, Aldean answered:\u00a0\u201cNo.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0just nasal polyps.\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0supposed to be having surgery on this, but it\u00a0hasn\u2019t\u00a0happened yet.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s\u00a0also just time,\u201d\u00a0he noted before reiterating his hesitation to move forward with the operation.\u00a0\u201cI just\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0wanna \u2014\u00a0they\u2019re\u00a0like,\u00a0\u2018Yeah.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0gonna feel like you have the worst flu for like two weeks.\u2019\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0like,\u00a0\u2018That\u00a0doesn\u2019t\u00a0sound like something I want to jump on. It just\u00a0doesn\u2019t\u00a0sound like fun, so I just\u00a0haven\u2019t\u00a0had it done yet.\u201d<\/p>\n When asked if\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0afraid the surgery would affect his voice, Aldean replied,\u00a0\u201cA little bit. I know\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0going to probably sound different.\u201d<\/p>\n Aldean\u00a0shouldn\u2019t\u00a0worry too much about nasal polyp removal surgery when it comes to a potential change in his voice, as he has a loyal fan base who likely\u00a0won\u2019t\u00a0change their opinions on him. In addition to that, the\u00a0\u201cYou Make It Easy\u201d\u00a0singer has a long list of accolades, including 30 No. 1 hits and 20 million albums sold, proving that a minor change\u00a0won\u2019t\u00a0impact his talent.<\/p>\n While\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0no question that Aldean is worthy of winning awards solely based on his vocals in country music, he divulged some of his favorite vocalists in the genre.<\/p>\n \u201c[Chris Stapleton<\/a><\/strong>] is the best male vocalist in our genre, to me right now,\u201d\u00a0Aldean told actor Dax Shepard<\/strong>.\u00a0\u201cI think he and Morgan Wallen<\/a><\/strong> are killing it, too.\u00a0Morgan\u2019s\u00a0a great vocalist, too.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cMorgan’s\u00a0just kind of on a global level now,”\u00a0Aldean continued.\u00a0\u00a0“That’s\u00a0awesome, too, that we get a guy like that \u2014 really brings in a lot of different listeners into our format.\u00a0He\u2019s\u00a0getting people listening to his stuff that\u00a0wouldn\u2019t\u00a0typically listen to country music. Those kinds of things,\u00a0it’s\u00a0all good for all of us.”<\/p>\n Aldean, who is on the road as part of his Full Throttle Tour, recently revealed he is releasing new music. The Georgian will drop his new track,\u00a0\u201cHow Far Does A Goodbye Go,\u201d\u00a0on Sept. 12.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u00a0think\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0better at it now,\u201d\u00a0he said of his songwriting in comparison to the tunes he released earlier in his career.\u00a0\u201cI think there are certain songs and subject matter that\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0make sense for me to sing anymore\u2026 Now\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0like\u00a0you\u2019re having songs with a little more meat on the bone and things that are going to make sense for me to sing when\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0in my 50s and moving forward\u2026.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cNow\u00a0we\u2019re\u00a0writing songs about things like family members going through things like dementia and those kinds of things,\u201d\u00a0Aldean added.\u00a0\u201cJust things that are a little more thoughtful and in that direction.\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0still having the things that people expect from us on a record, too.
