Ludwig<\/a><\/em> has officially begun production on Season 2, and there are new stars joining the fold! BritBox<\/a> announced the start of production and\u00a0Ludwig\u00a0<\/em>Season 2 cast on Thursday, September 4, in addition to sharing the first photo of star David Mitchell<\/a> on set (see above).<\/p>\n The British detective series charmed viewers and critics alike with its easy balance of comedy and drama, focusing mainly on the comedy as\u00a0Mitchell\u2019s titular character, John \u201cLudwig\u201d Taylor (a professional word puzzle creator), goes undercover as his missing detective twin brother. While searching for clues about his brother\u2019s disappearance, Ludwig (real name John) discovered that legal mysteries are really just puzzles, which he was uniquely equipped to solve.<\/p>\n Ludwig<\/em>\u2018s first season is comprised of six installments, which became available to audiences stateside on BritBox in March of 2025, roughly six months after its September 2024 debut in the U.K. on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. No longer having to masquerade as his brother, he\u2019s openly more \u201cLudwig\u201d<\/span> than ever \u2014 brilliant at solving puzzles but hopeless at everything else. But John\u2019s identical twin brother, James, is still missing, and now that he\u2019s an official employee of the station, John is forbidden from using any police resources to look for his brother or uncover exactly what he was investigating. Of course, John won\u2019t stop and neither will Lucy (Anna Maxwell Martin), John\u2019s sister-in-law and wife of his missing brother James \u2014 a puzzle needs solving and a husband and father needs bringing home.
