So, as <em>SNL <\/em>prepares to return for Season 51 on the <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cinemablend.com\/television\/2025-tv-premiere-date-schedule-upcoming-new-returning-shows\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:2025 TV schedule,;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">2025 TV schedule,<\/a> I&#8217;m starting to anticipate the impersonations the cast will do. However, before we see those, let&#8217;s throw it back for a second as Kate McKinnon revealed her favorite person to impersonate<em>, <\/em>and I can\u2019t say I disagree with her pick.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">McKinnon left <em>SNL <\/em>in 2022 after ten seasons on the show and numerous Emmy nominations and wins. During her time on the series, she\u2019s impersonated many notable figures, including Justin Bieber, Hillary Clinton, Ellen DeGeneres, Jane Lynch, Nancy Pelosi, Martha Stewart, and even Rudy Giuliani. While doing a video for <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@betches\/video\/7546334553854528798\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Betches;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Betches<\/a> that harkened back to her <em>SNL <\/em>days and even her Bieber impression, McKinnon was asked who her favorite celeb to impersonate was, and she said:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"mb-4 border-l-2 pl-5 italic text-tertiary\">\n<div class=\"\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">My favorite impression that I did on Saturday Night Live was the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The late Supreme Court Justice was first impersonated on <em>SNL <\/em>in 2012, with McKinnon portraying her. She made appearances over the years in sketches, but mostly she was featured on Weekend Update. Between her high energy and thoughts on the political system, it was always a highlight seeing RBG on Weekend Update.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">After Ginsburg died in September 2020, McKinnon paid tribute to her the following month by silently sitting in the audience dressed as Ginsburg during Weekend Update, followed by a card honoring the late justice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Playing a prominent figure may not be the easiest thing to do, but McKinnon did it flawlessly. She\u2019s <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cinemablend.com\/television\/amazing-snl-impressions-politicians\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:impersonated a number of political figures on SNL;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">impersonated a number of political figures on <em>SNL<\/em><\/a> and a lot of other celebrities, but it was always fun seeing her as RBG on Weekend Update and watching just how crazy she may or may not get. It wasn\u2019t surprising, though, because when McKinnon commits to a part, she really commits. And the fact that she was able to think up that answer so quickly when asked about her favorite impersonation proves how fun it was for her to do it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">As previously mentioned, McKinnon left <em>SNL <\/em>in 2022 following a <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cinemablend.com\/television\/just-a-few-weeks-before-kate-mckinnons-snl-exit-she-skillfully-dodged-the-question\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:string of rumors surrounding her exit;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">string of rumors surrounding her exit<\/a>, and despite it <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cinemablend.com\/television\/snls-kate-mckinnon-explains-why-she-left-the-nbc-show-after-the-best-decade\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:being the \u201cbest decade,\u201d;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">being the \u201cbest decade,\u201d<\/a> she felt it was time to move on. She has returned to the series since then, hosting the Christmas show in 2023 for Season 49. She also cameoed later that season and reprised her iconic character, Colleen Rafferty, in a special \u201cClose Encounter\u201d sketch for <em>SNL50: The Anniversary Special <\/em>earlier this year, with <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/entertainment\/f-k-know-name-jason-150059520.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:Meryl Streep playing her mother;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\">Meryl Streep playing her mother<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Assuming Kate McKinnon returns to Studio 8H for another hosting gig or cameo, it\u2019s quite possible she\u2019ll throw on another impersonation of another notable figure.
