Fede \u00c1lvarez<\/a> won\u2019t be directing Alien: Romulus 2<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n Alien: Romulus<\/a> is the 2024 science fiction horror film directed by \u00c1lvarez. Set between the events of Ridley Scott\u2019s Alien<\/a> and James Cameron\u2019s 1986, the movie stars Cailee Spaeny as Marie Raines \u201cRain\u201d Carradine, David Jonsson as Andy, Archie Renaux as Tyler Harrison, and Isabela Merced as Kay Harrison.<\/p>\n Speaking with TooFab<\/a> at Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights, \u00c1lvarez said that, while the script for Alien: Romulus 2 is completed, he will not be directing the sequel.<\/p>\n \u201cWe just finished the script, actually, for a sequel to\u00a0Romulus. But I\u2019m gonna pass the torch on this one as director,\u201d \u00c1lvarez said. \u201cI\u2019m going to produce it, with Ridley Scott, we\u2019re gonna produce it together, and we\u2019re right now trying to find a new filmmaker to come in.<\/p>\n \u201cI think that\u2019s usually what has happened, except for Ridley, filmmakers come, you make one, and you pass the baton to the next one. But we wrote the story because we really love what we started with\u00a0Romulus, and we want to continue the story. We love the story, and now we just want to find a director that really wants to go for the jugular.<\/p>\n Instead of helming Alien: Romulus 2, \u00c1lvarez says he wants to work on \u201ca personal project\u201d that he and his \u201cco-writer [have] been keeping on the back burner for a while.\u201d He continued, \u201cWe felt it was the right time, now, to go work on an original. But I cannot tell you anything about it.\u201d<\/p>\n Plot details for Alien: Romulus 2 remain under wraps at this time.
