The comedy trio Please Don’t Destroy will no longer produce digital shorts for Saturday Night Live <\/em>starting this upcoming season, Variety reported<\/a> on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The group \u2014 made up of Ben Marshall, John Higgins and Martin Herlihy \u2014 has not formally broken up, according to the outlet, but they will no longer be working together on SNL. <\/em>Marshall is now part of the show’s cast, Herlihy remains on the writing staff, and Higgins has left the show entirely to pursue other acting projects, according to Variety.<\/p>\n

Please Don’t Destroy was hired by SNL <\/em>in 2021 as writers and performers, after the group grew an online following<\/a> from their videos during the pandemic. They went on to write and star in their own pretaped sketches<\/a> for the past three seasons, similar to what former cast member Andy Samberg and former writers Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer did with The Lonely Island’s Digital Shorts<\/a> between 2005 and 2012.<\/p>\n

Marshall was announced as a new featured player, alongside new performers<\/a> Kam Patterson, Veronika Slowikowska, Tommy Brennan and Jeremy Culhane. The season premieres on Oct. 4.<\/p>\n

Higgins is the latest cast member announced to be leaving the show, after Heidi Gardner, Michael Longfellow, Emil Wakim and Devon Walker.<\/p>\n

SNL <\/em>creator and producer Lorne Michaels gave a rare interview with Puck<\/a> on Aug. 22, in which he indicated that several current cast members would be leaving the show before the next season starts. Michaels confirmed only that James Austin Johnson would be returning and continuing to play President Trump<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Cast shakeups are not uncommon between seasons of SNL<\/em>. Ahead of last season\u2019s Sept. 28, 2024, premiere, NBC announced<\/a> that Kearney, Punkie Johnson and Chloe Troast would not be returning to the show, while Jane Wickline, Ashley Padilla and Emil Wakim<\/a> would be joining the cast.<\/p>\n
