An expert pathologist helped explain the inconclusive autopsy results surrounding the death of former University of Kentucky competitive cheerleader Laken Snelling<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s baby.<\/span><\/p>\n

The death of Snelling\u2019s infant, who was found stuffed into a trash bag in Snelling\u2019s closet last week, was ruled inconclusive<\/a> and \u201cextensive microscopic analyses are essential to determine the cause and manner of death,\u201d according to a report from the Fayette County Coroner\u2019s Office obtained by Us Weekly <\/i>on Thursday, September 4.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Marcello DiStasio<\/strong>, a professor of pathology at Yale School of Medicine who is not involved in the coroner\u2019s investigation, told NBC News<\/a> that the results were \u201cabsolutely routine,\u201d but explained the infant\u2019s body likely showed no signs of visible harm.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s more likely that they did see nothing and they suspect something that would not show a grossly visible wound or pathology, that\u2019s more likely,\u201d DiStasio said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe University of Kentucky competitive cheerleader accused of stuffing her dead baby into a closet had recently shared a series of professional photos with her boyfriend. Laken Snelling, 21, posted a slideshow of pictures via TikTok on June 18, showing the athlete and her partner posing in a field while wearing coordinating white outfits.\u00a0 Snelling [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In a statement, Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn<\/strong> said he understands \u201cthe community\u2019s concern and sensitivity surrounding the death of a child.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis death affects many lives in our neighboring state of Tennessee, as well as those in the Commonwealth,\u201d Ginn continued. \u201cWe are currently conducting a thorough and methodical death investigation to ensure all facts are carefully considered.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The Lexington Police Department said the investigation into the baby\u2019s death remains \u201congoing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Snelling, a former competitive cheerleader on the University of Kentucky\u2019s STUNT team, was arrested on Saturday, August 30<\/a>, and charged with Abuse of a Corpse, Tampering with Physical Evidence and Concealing the Birth of an Infant.<\/span><\/p>\n

A university spokesperson told Us Weekly<\/i><\/a> on Friday, September 5, that Snelling, 21, is no longer a student at the school or on the STUNT team.<\/span><\/p>\n

Authorities were called to Snelling\u2019s home in Lexington on August 27, about a report of an unresponsive infant.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to an arrest citation, the \u201cinfant was located wrapped in a towel inside of a black trash bag.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Snelling \u201cadmitted to giving birth\u201d during an interview with authorities on the scene.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
