In the Buffyverse, one slayer is chosen every generation \u2014 but the same thing cannot be said for TV and film reboots. And yes, Sarah Michelle Gellar<\/a> has thoughts.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Gellar has been acting since she was 4 years old, but cartwheeled into stardom on the \u201990s TV show \u201cBuffy the Vampire Slayer.\u201d She also starred in the slasher film \u201cI Know What You Did Last Summer,\u201d which has gotten the reboot treatment \u2014 and \u201cBuffy\u201d is heading for it too. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n So it\u2019s not surprising Gellar had a few things to say about criticism of reboots. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cI\u2019ve been fortunate enough that I\u2019ve had work that people remember from all different times, and as an actor, you just hope you do work that not just stands the test of time (and) that people still remember, but they still enjoy,\u201d the actor told USA Today<\/a> in an interview Thursday. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n The \u201cScooby Doo\u201d star also spoke about the \u201cemotional\u201d pull reboots have for longtime fans.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cIf your art that you\u2019ve created is still meaningful and also as the world changes that it still has emotional resonance to the fans, that\u2019s all we could ever ask for,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Gellar went on to talk about how some actors get \u201cstuck\u201d in a single role or era \u2014 but she\u2019s grateful that hasn\u2019t been her story. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cI don\u2019t feel like anyone\u2019s ever done that to me,\u201d she recalled. \u201cIt\u2019s not like people only know me from one thing in the \u201990s or they only wanna see me as one thing from the \u201990s. I\u2019ve been extremely fortunate.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Earlier this year, Variety reported that a pilot order for the \u201cBuffy\u201d reboot<\/a> was nearly complete. The revival has been in the works since 2018<\/a>, and it looks like a new Chosen One is finally stepping into the spotlight. According to the outlet, screenwriters Nora and Lilla Zuckerman are on board as writers, showrunners and executive producers.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n But not everyone from the original cast will be returning.
