Hollywood icon Kim Novak is 92 years old, and in a new documentary \u2014 Kim Novak\u2019s Vertigo \u2014 she makes a heartbreaking admission about what that means.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s not easy getting old,\u201d Novak said. \u201cI\u2019m feeling it\u2019s close to the end.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve been feeling the need to free something.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Chicago native began her acting career in 1954 and quickly rose to fame. Parade noted that Novak<\/b><\/a> was known across her career for working with legendary names such as Jimmy Stewart and Frank Sinatra, and appeared in major films such as \u201cVertigo\u201d and \u201cThe Man With the Golden Arm.\u201d<\/p>\n But at the height or her fame, the outlet noted, Novak moved away from the city to Oregon and became an artist in 1966.<\/p>\n \u201cI had to leave to survive,\u201d she told People Magazine in a 2021 interview. \u201cI lost a sense of who I truly was and what I stood for.\u201d<\/p>\n Novak continued acting, though, and had movies roles through 1991.<\/p>\n \u201cMy teachers were the animals, not just dogs and cats, but other animals, horses and llamas, whom you have to meet halfway, because they\u2019re not ready to accept humans,\u201d she said. \u201cI had to learn to win them over. They understand a person who\u2019s genuine so I had to become more real and that made me rely on my inner self \u2014 and that also encourage me to paint.
