RuPaul<\/a> is starring in the first feature film set in the RuPaul\u2019s Drag Race<\/em> universe.<\/p>\n Bleeker Street<\/a> and World of Wonder have partnered to acquire the North American rights to a new, untitled action-comedy. The film will be directed by Adam Shankman and, of course, starring RuPaul.<\/p>\n The film will keep the campy spirit of the franchise as it tells the story of two stewardesses who have to save Los Angeles.<\/p>\n According to the official description:<\/p>\n The first-ever theatrical feature film project from the \u201cRuPaul\u2019s Drag Race\u201d universe, it will follow best friends Tess and DeeDee, train stewardesses who trade their dreary shifts on the Stank Rail for the glitzy Glamazonian Express. When a catastrophic \u201cStormganza\u201d threatens to derail the high-speed train and crash it into Los Angeles, the duo in coach must join forces with the snobby first class attendants, and President Gagwell (RuPaul), to save the day in this wild ride of camp and comedy.<\/em><\/p>\n Written by Connor Wright & Christina Friel, the film will start principal photography this fall in Los Angeles. World of Wonder \u2013including Fenton Bailey, Randy Barbato, Tom Campbell and RuPaul\u2013will produce with Shankman.<\/p>\n In a statement, RuPaul, who plays President Judy Gagwell, called the role \u201cthe part I was born to play.\u201d She added, \u201cFinally, a role I can sink my dentures into.\u201d<\/p>\n Shankman said how his friendship with RuPaul led to the creation of this film.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve been friends with RuPaul for 30 years and in that time I\u2019ve watched him and the folks at World of Wonder help change culture writ large with Drag Race<\/em>,\u201d he said. \u201cWhen they asked me to come aboard this hilarious and truly unhinged project, in a time so desperate for escapist entertainment and laughter, I couldn\u2019t resist.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cDrag queens in charge of America\u2019s first-ever hyperspeed, transcontinental, non-denominational bullet train.
