Twelve-year-old Jacobi Jupe<\/a>, who plays the title role in \u201cHamnet<\/a>,\u201d broke down in tears during the Variety interview at the Toronto International Film Festival, describing the devastation of embodying William Shakespeare<\/a>\u2019s ill-fated son, and calling the experience \u201clife-changing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was so utterly devastating,\u201d Jupe says, pausing as he grew emotional. \u201cWhen I ended that shoot, there was one thing that I wanted to do, and it was probably to live on for Hamnet<\/a> because I don\u2019t think it was fair on him.\u201d<\/p>\n

As he struggled to continue, Jupe was consoled by his on-screen parents, Jessie Buckley<\/a> and Paul Mescal<\/a>, who embraced him during the emotional moment. A boy beyond his years, with the support of a fantastic cast and filmmaking crew.<\/p>\n

For Buckley<\/a>, who recently became a mother herself, playing Agnes \u2014 Shakespeare\u2019s wife \u2014 carried additional weight.<\/p>\n
