Kate McKinnon<\/strong><\/a> is opening up about a relatively unheard of, but thankfully benign, condition.<\/p>\n

\u201cI took a photo of my tongue and sent it to an actor friend of mine,\u201d the Saturday Night Live<\/em> alum, 41, told People<\/em><\/a> in an interview published on Saturday, September 6.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe both have the same medical condition,\u201d she continued. \u201cIt\u2019s called geographic tongue. Your tongue sheds in patches and looks like an atlas, hence the name \u2018geographic tongue.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the Cleveland Clinic<\/a>, geographic tongue is a \u201cnoncancerous condition that causes smooth, reddish patches on your tongue.\u201d A person can have the condition without experiencing any symptoms, according to the health organization, and it neither causes health issues or requires treatment.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAn unexpected revelation. Ashton Kutcher claimed that he didn\u2019t initially plan on coming forward with his vasculitis diagnosis. The 44-year-old No Strings Attached actor\u2019s fight with the rare autoimmune disorder became public knowledge during an August 2022 episode of Running Wild With Bear Grylls: The Challenge. Kutcher told Esquire in an interview published on Tuesday, [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Still, and despite her health condition being far from harmful, McKinnon admits she isn\u2019t thrilled by her diagnosis.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s gross,\u201d the actress and comedian told the publication. \u201cWe brag about how geographic we are on any given day. Maybe I shouldn\u2019t be saying this in a magazine.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bragging about her relatively unheard of medical condition isn\u2019t the only way the Roses star is deciding to pass her time. After leaving SNL<\/em> behind in 2022, and going on to star in several successful movies including 2023\u2019s blockbuster Barbie<\/em>, McKinnon is busy practicing her fermenting skills.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can lacto-ferment any vegetable by putting them in a big clean jar with water to cover and then you weigh all that and subtract the weight of the jar, and then multiply that by .035 and then add that amount of salt (by weight), shake it up and let it sit for seven days,\u201d she told the outlet in the same Saturday interview. \u201cI\u2019ve been fermenting. McKinnon has also been flexing her DIY-skills, putting up what she described as \u201cfaux-beams\u201d on her \u201cbedroom ceiling.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI sourced the wood and cut it and oiled it and treated it for bugs and installed it and fixed it and it took me three years,\u201d she explained. \u201cBut the skills I gained will last a lifetime. I love skills.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for her health, having a benign \u2014 and somewhat odd \u2013 medical condition puts McKinnon in an arguably prestigious category among her Hollywood peers. During a 2008 appearance on Friday Night With Jonathan Ross<\/em>, actor Ashton Kutcher<\/strong><\/a> revealed he has webbed toes.<\/p>\n
