Guillaume Marbeck<\/a> knew he needed the sunglasses.<\/p>\n

He was running late for his audition to play Jean-Luc Godard<\/a> in a Richard Linklater<\/a> movie about the making of the French auteur\u2019s seminal 1960 film Breathless<\/a>, but he knew that he couldn\u2019t attempt to play Godard<\/a> without the filmmaker\u2019s omnipresent eyewear. His friend, an optometrist, offered to let him borrow a pair that could double for Godard\u2019s signature frames. But a pipe had burst in the optometrist\u2019s apartment, setting Marbeck\u2019s whole day behind.<\/p>\n

By the time he made it to what was supposed to be a 10 a.m. audition, sunglasses firmly on his face, he recalls, \u201cI got out of the elevator and I saw like 15 people looking at me like, \u2018Who is this guy?\u2019 The producer, Mich\u00e8le P\u00e9tin<\/a>, she told me, \u2018You\u2019re late!\u2019 In my head, it went like, \u2018What would Godard say?\u2019 I thought,…<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
