HBO\u2019s new Sunday-night drama, Task<\/em>, comes from Mare of Easttown<\/a><\/em> creator Brad Ingelsby and follows a tense story of family, crime, and grief in the suburbs of Philadelphia. The drama pairs Mark Ruffalo<\/a>, playing a former priest-turned-FBI agent, with Tom Pelphrey as a trash collector desperate to support his family, even if it means orchestrating violent robberies.<\/p>\n Ingelsby has described the project as deeply personal. \u201cIt\u2019s where I live now, it\u2019s where I grew up, it\u2019s where I was raised, and it\u2019s where a lot of the important relationships in my life were formed,\u201d he told Vanity Fair<\/a> <\/em>in a May 2025 interview. \u201cIt\u2019s also a place that I feel like I can speak about and write about with some conviction and authority.\u201d<\/p>\n He was also drawn to the show\u2019s central dynamic between characters, recalling one of his favorite films, Heat<\/em>. \u201cIt was a collision course of these two men, and you loved and cared about both of them.
