Montell Jordan<\/a> says that his cancer has returned after he had his prostate removed last year.<\/p>\n The \u201cThis Is How We Do It\u201d singer revealed on the Today<\/em> show on Sept. 3<\/a> that follow-up scans have detected cancer in his lymph nodes nearly a year after having his prostate removed.<\/p>\n “I always imagined I would be telling my prostate cancer story from the other side of prostate cancer because I had a radical prostatectomy surgery,\u201d said Jordan. \u201cMy prostate was removed. There were clear margins.\u201d<\/p>\n “Close to a year post-prostatectomy, I still need to go back and have additional treatments because it\u2019s [been] detected that there is still cancer,\u201d Jordan continued.<\/p>\n COMPLEX SHOP:<\/b> Shop the brands you love, anytime and anywhere. Obsess.<\/a><\/p>\n To treat the cancer, Jordan will go through targeted radiation to treat his lymph nodes and take home blockers that stop the growth of the cancer.<\/p>\n “It is a seven-and-a-half week interruption of life to make sure that I have a longer life,” said Jordan.<\/p>\n Jordan discovered his cancer in early 2024 with a Prostate-Specific Antigen test.<\/p>\n “I would go regularly to my doctor for screenings, and at that time \u2014 we\u2019re talking over a decade ago \u2014 most prostate screenings were kind of taboo,” Jordan said on Today<\/em>. “I would do that, and they were taking blood samples.”<\/p>\n “Because I was going and had a history of what my blood levels were like, that\u2019s how they were able to detect it,\u201d he continued. The cancer ended up being upgraded to stage 2 after a biopsy that deemed it ‘aggressive.”<\/p>\n “Early detection is the thing that allows me to have a choice to treat [my cancer] and live and to continue giving myself the best quality of life possible,” he added.<\/p>\n Jordan will be documenting his cancer journey in the documentary (that\u2019s made in partnership with the nonprofit organization Zero Prostate Cancer) Sustain<\/em>, that is set to come out next year. As for what it\u2019s about, Jordan gave some initial details.<\/p>\n “I\u2019m trying to give a template for people that get diagnosed with this to … know they have options available to them,\u201d he explained. “It\u2019s okay to cry. It\u2019s okay to shake your fist at God.
