Jodie Foster<\/strong> is passing her True Detective<\/em> torch to a fellow Oscar winner.<\/p>\n And now, the renowned actress, 62, is sharing some words of wisdom for Nicolas Cage<\/strong>, who will star in the upcoming season of HBO’s beloved series.<\/p>\n Foster \u2014 who won a Primetime Emmy for her role in the fourth installment \u2014 has been in Toronto to promote her new film A Private Life<\/em>, where she took time to share some advice for Cage, 61, as he prepares to tackle the upcoming lead role. Both seasons are helmed by showrunner Issa L\u00f3pez<\/strong>.<\/p>\n “First and foremost, go have dinner with Issa L\u00f3pez and grill her for everything,” Foster told Variety<\/em><\/a> in an interview published Sunday, September 7. “She\u2019s such an amazing collaborator and a wonderful director. I think they\u2019re going to get along famously. My advice is to embrace the feeling of True Detective<\/em>, but allow it to be your own.”<\/p>\n Deadline<\/em> announced<\/a> on August 21 that Cage was in talks to star in season 5<\/a> of True Detective<\/em>, which first started airing on HBO back in 2014. Deadline<\/em> also noted that the fifth installment will be set in the Jamaica Bay section of New York City, with Cage being eyed for the role of New York police detective Henry Logan.<\/p>\n In season 1, Woody Harrelson<\/strong> and Matthew McConaughey<\/strong> starred as a pair of Louisiana homicide detectives investigating a series of brutal murders with ties to the occult.<\/p>\n Following her award-winning turn in season 4, Foster is now making waves with her new movie A Private Life<\/em> \u2014 as it marks her first French-language leading role.<\/p>\n “I had made a few films in French, but I\u2019d never had so much dialogue,” Foster told Variety<\/em>. “That was probably the first draw to making the project after reading the script and, of course, meeting Rebecca. I\u2019ve always wanted to make a real French movie that wasn\u2019t a bloated American co-production, but one that felt authentically French, with a French team and about the French experience.
