Lady Gaga<\/a><\/strong> is undeniable. Fifteen years after owning the MTV VMAs<\/a> with her instantly viral meat dress, the Mother Monster proved she was still going strong, capturing Artist of the Year at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards. <\/p>\n

Gaga, who came into the night with a field-best 12 nominations, dedicated the win to her Little Monsters. “The way you move through your life is iconic and rare. It is entirely yours,” she said. “You very much deserve a stage to shine on, and I give you all my applause.”<\/p>\n

She then beat it over to Madison Square Garden to headline her Mayhem Ball concert.<\/p>\n

Song of the Year went to Bruno Mars<\/strong> and Ros\u00e9 <\/strong>for \u201cApt.” Mars was MIA for the ceremony, but Ros\u00e9 accepted on their behalf and dedicated the statuette to “my 16-year-old self.”<\/p>\n

In a night of firsts, Ricky Martin<\/a> <\/strong>received the inaugural Latin Icon Award. Before accepting his trophy, Martin tore through a medley of hits, including \u00a0\u201cLivin\u2019 la Vida Loca,\u201d \u201cShake Your Bon-Bon,\u201d \u201cVente Pa\u2019 Ca,\u201d \u201cMar\u00eda,\u201d and \u201cLa Copa de la Vida.\u201d Then Busta Rhymes<\/a> <\/strong>collected the first-ever Rock the Bells Visionary Award. <\/p>\n

Alex Warren <\/strong>proved to be the latest social media star to matriculate to the mainstream. The TikTok star, whose “Ordinary” has been one of the year’s top hits, earned his first major music award on Sunday, being named Best New Artist at the VMAs.<\/p>\n

Meawhile, MTV voters helped settle the argument over what was the song of the summer in a crowded field, with Tate McRae<\/strong> winning the Moon Person for “Just Keep Watching” from F1 the Movie<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Other winners included Blackpink<\/strong>‘s Lisa<\/strong> for Best K-Pop for “Born Again” (featuring Doja Cat <\/strong>and Raye<\/strong>); Sombr<\/strong> for Best Alternative for “Back to Friends”; Megan Moroney <\/strong>capturing Best Country for “Am I Okay?”; and the legend Mariah Carey<\/a> <\/strong>for Best R&B for “Type Dangerous.” Carey will also receive the coveted Video Vanguard Award.<\/p>\n

The festivities kicked off with Doja Cat<\/strong> and special guest Kenny G<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

This year\u2019s lineup also includes performances from Jelly Roll<\/strong>, Sabrina Carpenter<\/strong>, Post Malone<\/strong>, J Balvin<\/strong>, McRae, and more. In addition, Steven Tyler<\/strong>, Joe Perry<\/strong>, Yungblud<\/strong>, and Nuno Bettencourt<\/strong> will honor late rock legend Ozzy Osbourne<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Busta Rhymes<\/strong> will be<\/p>\n

LL Cool J<\/strong> returned to host the star-studded ceremony from UBS Arena in New York. For the first time ever, the VMAs are airing live on CBS<\/a>, simulcast on MTV, and stream on Paramount+, marking a major expansion for the iconic awards show.<\/p>\n

Gaga’s leading 12 nominations were followed closely followed by Bruno Mars<\/strong> with 11 and Kendrick Lamar<\/strong> with 10. <\/p>\n
