Main St.<\/p>\n<p>The new choir room officially opened to the public on Sept. 6.<\/p>\n<p>The event brought out many volunteers, board members, music conductors, participants and members of the public.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re really, really excited,\u201d said Charlotte Beers Plank, president of Oberlin Choristers Board of Directors.<\/p>\n<p>The choristers \u201cmade the very difficult decision to close in 2019\u201d due to a lack of participation, said Beers Plank.<\/p>\n<p>They are now re-emerging as a \u201cbigger and better organization,\u201d she also said.<\/p>\n<p>A \u201cvery generous\u201d anonymous donation was given to the choristers to bring it back to life recently, making the re-opening possible.<\/p>\n<p>The money from the donation was used in part to completely renovate the choir room, located on the upper floor of the arts center in the downtown area of Oberlin.<\/p>\n<p>The renovations included painting the room, replacing the carpet, construction of a storage room and lining the upper walls with posters of the Choristers\u2019 past concert flyers.<\/p>\n<p>The rest of the money will go toward \u201cgrowing the program immensely,\u201d Beers Plank said.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, there are four age groups for youth, beginning with kindergarten through the twelfth grade.<\/p>\n<p>The organizations locations include not only Oberlin, but also the Avon United Methodist Church, in Avon, and Lake Ridge Academy, in North Ridgeville.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re building up again,\u201d said Beers Plank.<\/p>\n<p>Sue Simonson, Choristers board member, also attended the event.<\/p>\n<p>Simonson was involved with the organization from its inception in 1990 until 2011, she said.<\/p>\n<p>One of the parents of a former Chorister, Nusha Martynuk, also stopped in to see the new choir room.<\/p>\n<p>Martynuk and her daughter Renata McAdams enjoyed their time with the Choristers before it closed down, Martynuk said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a wonderful organization,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>To donate, register or learn more about the organization, visit ochorister.org or email info@ochoristers.org.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><em> \u2018 The preceding article may include information circulated by third parties \u2019 <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em> \u2018 Some details of this article were extracted from the following source www.morningjournal.com \u2019 <\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Oberlin Choristers, of Northeast Ohio Children\u2019s Choirs, are back from a six-year break with a new choir room in the New Union Center for the Arts in Oberlin.
