Lady Gaga has unleashed mayhem at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After accepting<\/a> the award for Artist of the Year earlier this evening, Gaga called in from her concert at Madison Square Garden to deliver an electrifying performance of \u201cAbracadabra\u201d and \u201cThe Dead Dance.\u201d<\/p>\n

For \u201cAbracadabra,\u201d the Grammy winner appeared on a stage designed to look like a grand opera house while dressed in a blood-red Elizabethan ball gown, which included a towering skirt that parted to reveal caged dancers underneath. She eventually descended from the platform to join the dancers below her, swapping her scarlet outfit for white Victorian garb tinged with scarlet. As she transitioned into \u201cThe Dead Dance\u201d\u2014a recently-released single featured in the second season of Wednesday<\/em><\/a>\u2014she performed the same hypnotic choreography seen in the song\u2019s Tim Burton-directed music video<\/a>. This past July, Gaga embarked on the Mayhem Ball, her world tour for her sixth studio album, Mayhem<\/a><\/em>. The tour includes 63 shows that will take her across the U.S., as well as to Australia, Japan, and Europe.<\/p>\n

Gaga has openly spoken about Mayhem<\/em> reflecting a period of deep introspection on her life experiences and personal challenges.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe album is imbued with my love for music: a diversity of genres, styles, and dreams. It leaps from one genre to another in a manner that feels almost corrupt, and it culminates in love. That\u2019s my answer to all the chaos in my life: I find peace in love,\u201d she said during a December 2024 interview with Rolling Stone<\/a><\/em>. \u201cEvery song I wrote emerged from surrendering to different dreams tied to my past, almost like a recollection of all the bad decisions I’ve made throughout my life. There are moments where we sonically push the sound to extremes, and others where everything revolves around love. That, to me, represents true chaos. It’s sometimes difficult to see the light, but I think what makes inner chaos more challenging is when you occasionally catch a glimpse of the sun. For this reason, the album offers a bit of everything. It’s a complete experience.\u201d<\/p>\n
